If we are honest we would admit to feeling this way.
Often.
The times when you just don't want to know.
Because if you go there, to the knowing... before you know it, you are into the feeling, and then you are responding.
Funny, I think that is what God had in mind when He created us.
Relationship and community.
People were created to be loved.
Things were created to be used.
Instead, we love things and use people.
I didn't come up with that gem.
I heard it recently.
It's sadly true.
We love things and use people.
Everyday.
God did not intend us for this life.
He created us to love others.
The others He places in our life.
Starting with Him...
The God of heaven and earth.
He is love.
He is the one we look too, learn from, emulate.
He is our example.
However, the example we most identify with is... not Him.
The picture and caption in this post is funny. The tv show is funny.
Because it is a show.
But in the real world it is anything but funny.
And yet, that is how most of us go through life...
as if we are saying,
"Don't bother me, I'm busy, you are not important to me.
I don't care... about you."
Sitcoms are often a close interpretation to the real world.
Most do not challenge us to be better, deeper, kinder.
God's Word is a better interpretation to follow.
"Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."
Philippians 2:4
"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Ephesians 4:32
God created relationship and community. His creation created the sitcom.
Let's remember that today.
So, how much do you care about the people God places in your life?
Not your flesh and blood, somewhat easier or called to love... but the "others"?
Truth is we are called to love them too.
